In 1824 Jeremy Bentham wrote “The Book of Fallacies,” in which he listed more than 50 mistaken beliefs or delusions that prevented the introduction of reforms in his country. This book, "Blind Spots in Pakistan's History," lists far less than 50 blind spots (enduring fallacies and flawed philosophies) that prevent us from joining virtuous cycles of growth and development.

The cumulative outcome of our political blind spots is that we are trapped in social entropy as disorder and disorganization slowly engulf our state. Like the cosmic and the biological clock, our social clock is ticking, with our fate, fortunes, and future at stake!

Many fortunate societies have cured their political blind spots and momentarily reversed social entropy in small zones and short durations. Whenever any group momentarily defeated entropic fate, it did so by injecting negentropy through rationality, intelligence, and active planning. We must set ourselves free from our blind spots by undertaking negentropic work and changing our cultural mindset and political processes.

Our best course of action is to implement the ancient wisdom which says, “be the change you wish to see in the world.” If we cannot be active change agents, we can at least adopt the next best course of action - keep doubting the spin, exposing the falsehood, and refusing to participate in the lies, or “noble falsehoods” that we are deluded with. This book is an endeavor to make a case for such change.
